What is a Polygon? Polygon Properties

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

In this animated Geometry video, I'd like to discuss the characteristics of polygons.
Polygons are 2-dimensional closed shapes.
A closed shape does not have any openings, and every one of the lines connects.
You can’t leave the inside of a closed shape without crossing a line.
Polygons have right lines, nor have curves
A proper polygon has three parts.
Straight Lines
Vertices which will be the point of which the lines intercept
Angles formed by intercepting lines
There are various types of polygons
A regular polygon has equal lines and angles
An irregular doesn't have equals lines and angles
A concave polygon has one angle higher than 180 degrees
A convex polygon doesn't have any internal angles greater than 180 degrees
A simple polygon does not have any lines that cross.
A complex polygon has at least one line that crosses over itself.
