What does "Sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia" mean?

Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia is a term given to what most of us would call "brain freeze."
Imagine you are eating an ice cream on a hot summer day. After a couple of bites you get very strong headache. You have experienced brain freeze.
It is caused by having something cold touch the roof of the mouth, which causes a nerve response from the rapid constriction and swelling of blood vessels.
