How fast does air travel when you sneeze?

When you sneeze the air and other particles travel around 100 miles an hour. Sneezing is a reflex your body uses to get rid of irritants such as germs,  pollen, dust, pollutants, or animal dander.

Sneezing cannot occur during sleep due to REM atonia – a bodily state where motor neurons are not stimulated and reflex signals are not relayed to the brain.
