Discipline is the Bridge between Goals and Accomplishment
I enjoy running marathons. Running even a slow marathon requires a fair amount of discipline. Discipline gets you out the door when you don’t feel like it, and completing all of the long runs a marathon requires. Discipline helps you produce consistent action required to accomplish a goal. So use discipline in your life to move from goal setting to accomplishment.
Change you’re thinking from “I can’t do that,” to “How can I do that?”
Many of us suffer from “I can’t do that” thinking. I struggle with setting big goals, and then believing I can actually accomplish them. When you change your thinking to “how can I do that?” you create a whole new mindset. This new mindset is looking for answers, is filled with hope, and expects you to get the task completed. This type of mindset greatly increases your odds of completing new and challenging goals and tasks.
When you are grateful fear disappears and abundance appears-Anthony Robbins
When you are grateful you focus on what you have, and less on what you don’t have.
If we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane. Jimmy Buffet
Sometimes laughter is the best medicine. Life can get confusing, stressful, and difficult, but laughter can reduce some of the stress. If you have had a tough day, break out a comedy, or read something funny, or just laugh about something. It really can be a life saver.
Don’t join an easy crowd, you won’t grow. Go where the expectations and the demands to perform are high Jim Rohn
Surround yourself with great people and you will become great, hang out with slackers and you will become a slacker. I run with a marathon group each Saturday. We all enjoy running marathons, and help each other accomplish our running goals. Something magical happens when you consistently hang out with motivated people. In my life, after running with my marathon group for two years I realized I had picked up their good habits, and their habits became my habits. As a result I accomplished some goals that I never thought I would accomplish. This can be powerful.
FOCUS Follow One Course Until Success- John Lee Dumas
Success rarely happens overnight. In the 70’s the Atlanta track club help a race in Atlanta. A couple hundred people ran the race on Fourth of July, then went home to celebrate the day. The track club held the race again the next year and several more people showed up. They made a decision to focus on this race and grow it. Fast forward to 2015, and this race, called the Peachtree had over 40,000 runners. Part of the success is that the track club focused on the race, and didn’t put their energy into other races. After the Peachtree was a success they started new races, but not until the Peachtree was successful. The same principle can be applied in your life.
Why not you? Yes Why not you?
Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm Winston Churchill
We all experience failure. As Mike Tyson says, “Everyone has a plan till you get punched in the face.” It can be very discouraging when you fail, but to succeed it is vital to learn from those mistakes, keep your eye on the prize, and keep moving forward.
You may not be there yet, but you’re closer than you were yesterday
When I bought my new house we decided to replace all of the carpet with hardwood flooring. I figured I could save thousands of dollars if I installed it myself. Each board was about three inches wide, and I had my entire house to floor. I started in one room, and just kept laying down the flooring. A little at a time, but moving forward one piece at a time. Eventually I finished the job with a huge smile. Ten years later those floors still look great. Set big goals, and do something every day to accomplish them.
Making commitments builds hope, Keeping commitments builds trust
Keeping your commitments is a cornerstone of life. If you want people to trust you, do what you said you were going to do. Keep your word, and trust will grow.
Something Amazing is going to happen today
Repeat after me, something amazing is going to happen today
Make it a habit of shutting down conversations that tear others down
This is just the right thing to do. This habit is not easy because people love to talk poorly about others. You will be in an elite group of people if you can accomplish this goal.
