Octagonal Prism-How to find the surface area

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

Follow these steps to find the surface area of an octagonal prism.

Use the formula two times base area + Lateral area

Step 1.  Find the apothem using the central angle. This will help you find the base area.

Step 2. Now that you have the apothem length, use 1/2apothem*perimeter for the base area

Step 3. Find the lateral area by multipling the perimeter times height of the octagon.

Step 4 Find the surface area by adding step 2 ( base area) and step 3 ( Lateral area)
