 Finding the surface area of a cone.


Finding the surface area of a cone  is a two step process. You first find the lateral area and the add this to your base area.

The formula becomes,   lateral area =    πr*s   +  base area =  πr2

Combine these for the surface area formula =    πr*s   + πr2
r = radius
s = slant height

In this video I work a sample problem and explain how to find the lateral area of a cone and then the base area of a cone, add these two together and you have the surface area.
