Perimter of Trapezoid

Let’s look at how to find the perimeter of a trapezoid. A trapezoid is a quadrilateral that has two parallel sides and two sides that are not parallel. The four sides of a trapezoid do not have to be equal lengths. The video goes over two problems over finding the perimeter of a trapezoid.

Problem 1. What is the perimeter of a trapezoid that has sides of 4, 5, 6, and 8 units in length?

Step 1.Just simply add all the sides together.

4 + 5 + 6 + 8 = 23 units

" A trapezoid is a quadrilateral that has two parallel sides. A quadrilateral must have four sides."

Problem 2. How do you find the perimeter of an isosceles triangle that has sides of 5, 4, and 8 units in length?

Step 1. An isosceles trapezoid has two parallel sides and the non-=parallel sides are equal length.
Therefore, the missing side length will be 5 units.
Step 2. Next, add the four sides.
              5 + 5 + 8 + 4 = 22 units
