Kindness Challenge Day 4 - Just say thank you

Today's suggestion is to just say thank you to the people around you. This simple gesture begins to reprogram your brain to think kindness. At the end of practice, you can say thank you to your coach. At school, say thanks at the end of your class to the teacher. I know as a teacher I rarely had students say thanks at the end of class. I also know it gave me a little encouragement when a student did say thank you to me and I was always impressed with this student.
This simple gesture shows kindness to others around you and tells other people that you value them.

How do you feel when someone says thank you to you?

Make a list of 5 people you could say thank you to today.

At  @MooMooMath and Science, we end our videos with kindness multiplies kindness. In each of my #shorts I like to tell a quick Kindness story in order to inspire myself and others to practice kindness.

Acts of kindness make a lasting positive impact on the people around you.

Day 3 of the Kindness Challenge

Take the kindness challenge. Being kind to the people around can be a learned skill. The more often you are kind to others the easier it becomes to default to being kind as opposed to being rude.
In order to make the 10-day kindness challenge easier, I will make a suggestion for what you can do.

Day 3

Today's suggestion is to just write a simple note to encourage someone in your life. It can be as simple as " have a great day." If you would like to do something different you can give someone you know a positive shout-out on social media.

Questions to discuss

Think of your last five social media posts. How many of those posts were positive, and how many were negative?

Think of the last time someone left you a positive or kind note. How did the note make you feel?

Kindness multiplies Kindness

I end most of my kindness videos with the phrase " kindness impacts the people around you."
Think of the last time, someone was kind to you. It may have been an encouragement, or a small compliment, or paid for your lunch. How did this make you feel?
In order to strengthen your kindness muscles and start impacting the people around you with kindness try the 10-day kindness challenge.

For the next 10-days be kind to someone you encounter in your life. This could include family members, classmates, or people you encounter during the day.

Your kindness could be a kind text, a word of encouragement, giving a large tip.
I have created a list of 70 ways you can be kind to others to help you with some ideas.

Have fun with your challenge.

let's be kind

Questions to think about

What is one thing you learned by completing the 10-day challenge?

What was the most creative way you showed kindness to someone else?

Kindness multiplies Kindness

In this YouTube #short I tell the story of Peyton Manning. He tells the story of how in one game against Miami he lost his temper after what he considered was a bad call by the referee. He said he ran up to the ref and proceeded to yell, scream, and act like a fool over a call. The next morning he said he was embarrassed by his actions and contacted the league office to get his address in order to write a letter of apology. At the time Peyton Manning was one of the top players in the NFL and I'm sure no referee would expect a letter of apology. Writing a letter of apology would be a very kind gesture by Peyton Manning and impacted the referee in a very positive manner. We all get frustrated and sometimes say things we shouldn't. Although an apology may not solve all of the problems it is a small step in the right direction.

Be Kind

Questions to think about

Is there anyone right now that it would be helpful that you need to apologize?

Think of the last time someone apologized to you. How did it make you feel?

Have you had a situation in which you refuse to apologize? Why?
