The video from MooMooMath and Science explains the two types of tundra: Arctic tundra and Alpine tundra.

Arctic Tundra:

Found in North America, Asia, and Europe, surrounding the Arctic Ocean.

Extremely cold winters (as low as -20 to -30°F) and short summers (up to 50–60°F).

Features permafrost, a layer of frozen soil.

Vegetation is limited to small plants like lichen, moss, and shrubs—no trees.

Common animals include lemmings, arctic foxes, polar bears, snowbirds, and insects like grasshoppers and flies.

Animals have adaptations like thick fur and white coloring for camouflage and heat retention.

Alpine Tundra:

Found at high elevations above the treeline in mountain ranges like the Himalayas, Pyrenees, and Rockies.

Shares a cold, dry climate and short growing season with Arctic tundra.

Also lacks trees due to altitude.

Vegetation includes grasses, moss, and low shrubs.

Animal species vary by region; examples include mountain goats and chinchillas.

In summary, both tundras are treeless, cold, and host unique plant and animal life adapted to harsh environments.
