Sea Bunny Jorunna parva

The sea bunny ( Jorunna parva )  looks very cute but is actually toxic. They have the ability to absorb toxins from animals they eat. They are only two and a half centimeters long, and feed on sponges.
They often cling to submerged vegetation and spend majority of the time at the bottom of tropical waters

There are over 2000 species of sea slugs.

What animal releases purple ink?

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Sea hares (Aplysia ) release a colorful purple ink when attacked. The purple ink helps the sea hare escape and is irratating to it's predators. I first discovered a sea hare on Pensacola beach florida when I saw a blob of goo and was shocked when this blob of goo started to move. When I moved the sea hare back into the ocean it let lose a stream of purple dye. Life is strange.
