The slope of a line is a measure of the rate of change or steepness of a line. Slope is represented with the letter M

The slope of a line can be defined as the rise of the line over the run over a line.

negative slope
A line with a negative slope will go down from left to right.

In addition, as x increases y will decrease.

positive slope
A line with a positive slope goes up as you move from left to right.

As x increases y will also increase.

undefined slope
A line with an undefined slope will be vertical.

A y changes x will remain constant.

zero slope
A line with zero slope will be horizontal.

As x changes y will remain constant.
